Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

We at Mosquito Squad of Southern Maine like to think first and spray last. That is an integral part of responsible stewardship of our planet. We are very cautious and pay attention to the health of off target insects that work as pollinators. We can do this with Integrated Pest Management, commonly known as IPM.

The core principle of IPM is to cut back on breeding grounds for our target insects. This is where homeowners can really help improve the effects of what we do. Great examples are tall grass for ticks and pooling water for mosquitoes. Well manicured lawns, mulch and stone help form a great barrier to prevent insects from travelling into your core living area. Kiddie pools, water bowls, bird baths and tarps collect rain water and make the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Mosquito Squad of Southern Maine technicians are trained to help alleviate this and commonly notate anything they see under the “notes” section on your work order. Our ultimate goal is to provide you with a safe and comfortable living area for you to enjoy during the summer months.

We would also like to touch on another thing that sets us apart from other companies. Our treatment process is designed to be quick and effective. Our common procedure is to have two techs per truck. Each technician starts on opposing sides then meet in the middle and hit the interior of the perimeter. This allows for a more thorough application and gets the job done in a timely manner so you can get back to enjoying your yard. Our application typically takes 20 minutes to dry. Once dry, it can withstand any weather for the 21 days and is safe for use. We do not spray your entire lawn. That causes runoff of chemicals that can enter ground water and is typically why other companies tell you to stay off of the lawn for 24 hours. The time our techs are on site depends on the size of your property and the amount of foliage available for treatment.
